Configuring Email Using Your Android Device

This page describes how to configure an email account on your Android device. Note that in this example, we are using "imail.4w.com" as a sample domain. Please substitute your domain name and user account accordingly. The details may vary from one device to another or depending on the version of Android phone or tablet. Please consult your user's manual for additional instructions.

From your Android home screen, press the menu button and look for settings, or open the mail client and press the menu button.

Select "new account"

Enter your full email address in the top field. For example, jane@mydomain.com. Enter your password in the second field, then press Next.

On this screen you can customize your username. In the username field, enter your full name as you want it to appear on messages.

In the Incoming settings dialog, select the POP Protocol.

Select either SSL or TLS if you want to encrypt your messages when they are downloaded from the server.

In Outgoing settings, you may use our server, however if your carrier allows it, please try to use their outgoing mail server.

Select SSL for encryption of outgoing mail. Note that this just encrypts the messages between your phone and the server but does not provide end-to-end encryption of messages.

Finalize your new account by entering an account name and your name, then press Finish Setup.

Next, go to the Send and Receive settings and turn OFF "delete mail on server." This is necessary if you also use a desktop mail application on your PC or Mac. Otherwise your phone will download and delete mail off the server and it won't be available to your desktop machine.

Uncheck "delete mail from server" and set any other options as needed. We recommend setting download frequency to 15 minutes or greater since checking mail more frequently puts an extra load on the mail server.

Your new account is ready to use.
